What is ABA?

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis.

At it’s core, ABA is the science of behavior and learning. It uses reinforcement and the principles of learning to teach individuals new skills, reduce behaviors of concern, and increase existing behaviors and skills

ABA is a therapy that uses behavior analysis to understand how behavior works, how the environment affects behavior, and how learning works. ABA therapy can help individuals, particularly individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learn communication and language skills, gain social skills, and reduce behaviors of concern.

ABA is adapted to the needs of each individual and family. ABA teaches skills and behaviors that are socially significant for each individual, as well as those needed to live as independently as possible. ABA seeks to help individuals be independent and autonomous. ABA therapy can be provided in clinics, in homes, in schools, and in the community.
